Plaid Tweed Holiday Dress with Blue Suede Pumps.

Dancing through the Christmas season in this festive look.

Did Christmas sneak up on anyone else or did it just sneak up on me? I feel like I’ve barely blinked since Thanksgiving and now Christmas is next week. That’s okay, though, because my closet is prepared for festive merry-making in this plaid tweed holiday dress.

I love dresses like this because they do all the heavy style lifting on your behalf: you don’t have to worry much about accessorizing when you’re wearing a Christmas tartan tweed dress with a a fit-and-flare cut and a puffy sleeve. (Score similar versions of this dress here, here and here.)

To add a little pizazz, I slipped on a pair of patterned tights (super affordable dupe here) and chose a blue suede pump instead of a neutral pump. The little pop of color in the shoe was a fun choice, right? Get a super similar pair here and here.

What are you doing for Christmas? We’re doing dinner followed by presents with my parents + sister and brother-in-law. It’s always a fun, low-key time filled with wine and lots of dogs running around. (My parents have 2, we have 3, and my sister has 1, so it’s quite the full house!) Some years we dress up, some years we dress super comfy. This year is a dress up year, so I’m totally breaking out this plaid tweed holiday dress!

Since Kansas City is going to be in a bit of a deep freeze over the Christmas holiday, I’ll probably warm this look up by layering a black turtleneck under and choosing a tighter-knit set of tights to keep my legs warm. Maybe even a knee-high boot vs. a pump to max out the warmth factor? We shall see.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy holiday season!

  1. Wow, such a pretty dress. Perfect for the holidays. I hope you have a wonderful time this year.

My holiday will be subdued for a reason I won’t mention here; don’t want to spoil your festive post. (The news is on my blog.)

    1. Haha, I do feel that way in pumps these days because I just don’t wear them nearly as often as I used to, pre-pandemic. There are many times during blog shoots where I stumble a bit as a lose my balance and my photographer and I laugh- it’s like, “Where did my balance go?” Haha. Thank you for stopping by and hope you have a lovely Christmas!

  2. WOW beautiful outfit, the colors smell roses with your sweet smile, the lace tights are dreamy and your blue shoes remind me of the deep blue sea , great look, wish you happy christmas and nice holidays 👌❤

  4. LOVE it!! You look gorgeous in this festive tartan dress, perfect for Christmas! I love dressing up and I’ll be wearing a red dress. We’ll be celebrating at our oldest son’s house, with the whole Coburn clan (except his sister can’t make it because she’s in Seattle).

Merry Christmas to you and yours!🎄

  5. It is supposed to be super cold here in STL for Christmas too! Brr! Oh, I just love this dress on you! This may be one of my all time favorite dressy looks you’ve shared. The sleeves are fun, I love the colors in the plaid print (and the blue heels!) and those tights go great with it too!

  7. Okay, I LOVE everything about this dress, especially the fact that you pointed out, it says it all on its own. It’s the perfect dress to dress up like you did, I adore those blue pumps, but if you are running out of time, you can just throw it on and look festive. Your family gathering sounds lovely and busy, which is just the way most of us love it. We will go to my in-laws with my SIL and littles, and then come home to be with my parents. Also, super cold here but I am really hoping that it’ll start to thaw so our family can get outdoors skiing or skating. Merry Christmas!
