Plaid Blazer + Sporty Floral Blouse.

Print mixing doesn’t get any easier than a plaid blazer and anything floral.

Shooting content for the blog is wild these days, guys. 1) It’s usually the only time I put on “real” clothes + a full face of makeup and 2) I want to name every post: An Outfit for Whenever We’re Allowed to Have Events Again. This plaid blazer is super cute, but it’s not exactly the loungewear we’re all accustomed to as we shelter in place.

It’s okay, though, right? There’s nothing that says you can’t take COVID-related social distancing super seriously and also earmark an outfit for later. That’s where I come in. Print mixing can seem a little scary at first, especially if you’re more of a neutrals and solids type girl. But this combo– plaid and floral– is really easy, I promise.

The plaid here is subtle (like this, but you could go bolder in this), so it almost passes as just a gray blazer. It works with the black and white tones in the burgundy-based floral blouse (which is so old– like 2014 old!) for an updated, casual Friday outfit whenever the COVID-19 fog lifts.

I went a little matchy-matchy with the burgundy pump (almost exact version here + on sale), but we shot this on a gray-ish chilly spring day in KC and it felt more appropriate than something lighter or brighter. I would totally swap this out for a bright white pump if I was looking to play up the warmer vibe.

These jeans have been in the blog rotation lately (see ’em with a blush chenille sweater right here). Such a great cut + shape, and they are stretchy enough to almost rival leggings. Almost.

I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy– and still washing those hands!

  1. I say this may be the perfect “I’m working from home but need to video-conference all the time” outfit! Pity no one will see the shoes though because they’re stunning – I love a good pair of red heels!

  2. I know just what you mean about content shooting – I really am trying to make an effort to put on makeup every day to WFH, but the motivation is slipping! I feel like this is the perfect outfit for the alternate universe version of WFH me. Sophisticated, effortless, and presentable for when the postman comes knocking! Hope you’re keeping well.

  3. I know right..every outfit of mine I’ve named “the outfit I’ll be wearing once we get the chance to go out again.” Can’t wait!!!
You’ve combined these prints so amazingly! I’m usually a bit freaked out to pair two different prints together.

  4. I wholeheartedly agree. Post these fab outfits. I love the plaid with the floral, especially when you got a fab blazer with a great pair of jeans!

    1. I mean, at the very least they get me out of my sweatpants-all-the-time rotation, haha. 😉 Thanks for swinging by, Chrissy!

  5. Great pairings with the plaid and floral! I’m not much of a print mixer but I am liking this mix as the plaid trip is subtler than the floral – they both complemented each other perfectly! You look great!

  6. What a cute blazer! I like the ruffles on the pockets, and a blazer and jeans outfit is always a winner in my book! I mostly wear my blazers to the office, so they are packed away until all this is over!

Hope that you had a nice weekend 🙂 Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! A new link up is live on my blog now, I’d love you to join again.
