Oversized Band T-Shirt Dress + Longline Vest.

I’m with the band in a t-shirt dress, mule sandals, and a longline vest.

Bringing pajama vibes to the great outdoors, folks! This oversized t-shirt dress was a super affordable Nasty Gal find that I initially figured I’d wear just around the house with slippers. I’m lucky the 9-5 gig doesn’t require me to dress business professional while working from home (which we are officially doing through the end of the year), so this dress is totally something I could get away with wearing during the week.

I then decided to switch it up and see if I couldn’t remix it a bit, leaning into those boho vibes frontwoman Stevie Nicks is famous for. (This is, after all, a Fleetwood Mac tee. All hail Stevie, our queen.) Layered a longline white vest on top, cuffing the sleeves a little to give the t-shirt dress some shape. Popped on a wide-brim hat (love this version and this version) and a pair of blush mule sandals for some added height. (Get the same vibe with these puppies.)

US friends, how are you guys handling this long, drawn-out pandemic? We aren’t quite getting things under control like some of the other developed nations, that’s for sure. I’m definitely of the mindset that until we get a viable vaccine, we’re going to be dealing with case surges because there are some people that feel wearing a mask is… a political statement? An impediment on their constitutional rights? (Wrong. And also wrong.) It’s wild.

Scientists at KU Med say the KC metro on the Kansas side is in a “fluctuating plateau,” which means we have to stay vigilant by masking up and practicing proper social distancing when in public spaces in order to keep cases from getting too high.

Dave and I are sticking pretty close to home, masking up whenever we venture to the grocery store, pharmacy, etc. I went to see my hairstylist, Steph, last week. She has a private single-room space and we both wore masks while she touched up my hair. We see friends by meeting them a few at a time at outdoor patio spaces (either our own home or restaurants that have ample outdoor room and are keeping everyone properly distanced) and visit family occasionally. All outside contact is pretty rareรขโ‚ฌโ€œ we’re very much homebodies these days. What about you?

  1. The summer weather has made a huge difference in getting out since we were able to hang out with friends and dine outdoors. I know once the cold temps arrive we will be hermits again patiently waiting for the vaccine! Such a fun tee! Love this cool girl look!

  2. Love the shirt dress (I have an abiding love for Fleetwood Mac)!

I’m mostly a homebody these days as well. I’ll be working remotely until at least January and am sticking to socializing within my cohort bubble (which includes my parents, who are basically in isolation as well, and a couple of friends who I meet up with every few weeks to hang out in someone’s back yard). And the bubble also includes my childcare provider and babysitter. But we’re all watching ourselves for any signs of symptoms or exposure (at which point the bubbles will immediately contract). Masks are thankfully mandatory by municipal order in my city and I’ve invested in a nice collection of cute ones and basically don’t go anywhere without one. It’s crazy/irritating to me how politicized mask wearing has become (even here where we’ve had a few dangerous lunatics try to organize marches on city hall and the legislature building over their “rights”). Sigh.

    1. We’re working from home until January 2021, too. So it’s like: okay, buckle in, let’s figure out a system that works because this isn’t resolving anytime soon. Having people in our cohort bubble (I love this term!) has been key when we need a little social time but still want to make sure we’re being safe. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Love the t-shirt dress and how you styled it!
We’re the same over here in France- we’ve been socialising a bit because we’ve been able to eat outdoors, but I think we will be staying in over the winter. We always wear our masks when we’re out and I really wish everyone else would too!

  4. I love the relaxed, yet stylish look of an oversized tee and you’ve styled yours so good, girl! I love it paired with those nude heels and hat. I know that must feel quite liberating to be able to wear more relaxed outfits while working, enjoy! Thanks for this inspo, babe!

  5. All the Stevie Nicks vibes! We are pretty much homebodies as well, and thankful for the ability to work from home since March. We’ve ventured out a few times for outdoor dining, a birthday dinner, and a trip to SeaWorld which surprisingly was super socially distant oh and I finally got my hair done too. YES to wearing masks and NO it is not a political statement, it’s called being a nice human. I don’t understand why or how it became “political”. Ugh! But girl you’re with the band and slaying! <3

    1. I’m totally with you- science isn’t political, and it’s human decency to wear a mask to keep others safe. So silly. I’m so glad you had a good outing at SW and worrrrrk that new hair, mama!

  6. I’ve had my eye on a Journey t-shirt dress at FP. (I like Fleetwood Mac better, tho.). You make styling it look so easy! I don’t go much of anyplace and we are required to wear masks. I’m getting so weary of dealing with the virus.

    1. We are masked up, always! When we’re out, at least. Mostly we stay home- it’s easier and safer! You should totally snag this tee- it would be super cute on you!

  7. Here I am again to see and comment on one of your looks. But how not to do it, as they are so beautiful. First I want to say that I loved the dress, then the vest gives the look a touch of your own, which you do very well. Sandals and glasses are charming and I love to die for the hat that is perfect for protecting from the sun. By the way dear Ashley your hair is always perfect.

  8. Love that you’re still take the pandemic serious and educating your readers through your own practices. I have to give kudos to you.
I love this look. I think I’m going to visit Nastygal as I haven’t done so in a while. I might as well check them out and see if there’s anything I would like to purchase there.
    Have a great week darling!

    1. Thank you! I think it’s important to share what I’m doing a little more specifically because it seems like a lot of people in my area AREN’T taking it as seriously… which is so disappointing. I think it’s key to be upfront since we have platforms about our practices to help other people understand how to responsibly navigate.

  9. Same precautions here. The virus isn’t gone and, as you say, life won’t return to normal until there’s a vaccine.

In view of relaxed expectations, this outfit works nicely. And it’s stylishly put together, like all of your ensembles. Good work!

  10. I love how you styled this Nasty Gal dress with a long vest. It looks so chic worn that way. The mules you’re sporting are adorable. Such a pretty and at the same time comfy styling. You look fantastic!!!!

  11. Hello
We are in the same situation here, I always wear a mask when I leave home! And I pray that scientists find an effective vaccine quickly!
As for your look, let’s say you left your comfort zone and risk a more daring or cool look, I loved it !!

  12. Cute outfit, Ash! Love that top. I’m totally with you. Wearing a mask isn’t political its an act of kindness and also a way of protecting yourself. Trying to find a balance of going out safely and being protective. It’s hard. A lot of people in KC are acting like we’re in 2019 again. Have a great weekend!

  13. What a fun tee dress, the vest looks great with it! ๐Ÿ™‚

We are staying home a lot more too and avoiding the shops – there have been a few cases here (we are up to 12 cases in our state which is crazy high!!!) so we aren’t travelling far and spending time outside rather than at the shops, trying to keep away from others, haha!

Hope that you are having a lovely weekend ๐Ÿ™‚
