Olive Green Tank at The Scout.

Scouting one of KC’s best views in this olive green tank.

Welcome to August! Olive green is a year-round color for me; it’s not something I reserve only for fall and winter. This olive green tank from VICI was an immediate purchase (score an Amazon dupe here for under $20) because the button front and super blousy cut was a great combo for summer.

I put this look together for a project with KC Parks and Rec (see the bottom of this post!) highlighting some of the best parks and fountains in Kansas City. My spot is The Scout, a statue erected in 1922 as a memorial to local Native tribes who had lived in the area for centuries. It sits on top of a hill in Penn Valley Park and has one of the best views of the city from the south.

Those sandals are back in the mix; I can’t seem to stop wearing these bad boys! They’re just so versatile. I matched ’em with a wear-everywhere pair of high-waisted jeans. These Madewells get some serious love in my jean collection. They have quite a bit of stretch, hold their shape, and I love the perfect blue wash.

I love this look because it definitely plays for summer right now for cooler days or summery evenings when jeans are too hot. Come late September and early October, I can layer on cardigans and leather jackets to keep this olive green tank in the rotation.

My commercial for the KC Parks project is below. The weather was absolutely perfect– while it’s normally a sweatbox in KC in July and August, we lucked out and got this sunny, not-too-hot, zero-humidity day. We shot right around sunset, so golden hour was in full effect! If you want to see the full 1-minute commercial featuring some other local KC pals, you can check it out here.

  1. I love to see you wear this color in the summer Ashley. It seems like most of us relegate it to the colder months, yet it’s so evident with all of the flowers and greenery in summer.

    1. Right?! I used to save all my olive green for cooler temps, but I’ve been loving warmer-weather olive green pieces this season!

    1. Yesss- this color will pair so well with black, too! I think these sandals would be killer for early fall (you know, before our toes freeze in anything but boots, haha).

  2. I love that olive top, it looks great paired with jeans. I think olive is perfect for summer because this is a shade that looks great with olive skin or a tan…

    You look fantastic!!!!!!!!
