Memorial Festivities.

Can you believe Memorial Day Weekend is this weekend? And June is right around the corner. Spring flew by.

The first part of my MDW will be drinks for a friend’s birthday. (Happy birthday, Julie!) We’re doing the swanky happy hour thing, so a sassy outfit is in order. A variation of what I’ll be wearing:

Memorial Weekend 1

Essentially this outfit is just an excuse to wear a pair of super-loud heels. (Which is how I build 75% of my outfits, by the way.) Start at the bottom and work your way up: something color blocked and punchy on the feet, followed by a pair of dark skinnies, an in-the-same-color-family-but-not-t00-matchy top, coral necklace and stud earrings (because I’m obsessed), and a white blazer to top it off. Bam! Bring on the cocktails.

It’s Memorial Day, so it’s the official kick off to BBQ season. That means casual, but not so casual that you look like you didn’t try. A variation of my standard BBQ-wear:

Memorial Weekend 2

The key here is one (or two) bright pieces, with the rest of the outfit staying in neutral territory. This keeps you from becoming That Girl Who Overdresses. I chose a bright blue romper, warm-toned accessories in the form of wooden bangles, hoop earrings, boat shoes (a fav!) and a great belt. Another pop of color in the form of a cocktail ring paired with a bronze-nude lip and beach waves, and this girl is ready to get her grill on.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

  1. Such a perfect welcome-to-summer outfit. LOVE both pairs of shoes! On another note, any thoughts on where to score some sweet seersucker pieces for summer wardrobe?
    Have a great holiday weekend!

  2. Ahhhh, I want that BBQ outfit so bad! It’s so cute and perfect for Memorial Day weekend! Where can I find something similar?
