Long Cardigan + Patent Loafers.

Shoe trend for spring? 90s heeled loafers.

You heard it here first: those patent leather heeled loafers from the 90s are back! They were all over the spring and summer runways, but I snagged a pair now. (You can, too, and on sale.) Because loafers invoke such a buttoned-up + demure vibe, I immediately wanted to style them with something a little bit sexy. Hello there, silky bodysuit!

High-waisted Levi’s (which have been on repeat here as of late) and a matching long cardigan made this look late-February appropriate. The duster-length cardigan is years and years old from Forever21, but I found an almost exact version here (also on sale). All the elements came together for an elevated-but-still-wearable neutral look, which was perfect for a dinner party at a pal’s house.

I love these loafers right now with denim; they could also work with tights and a sweater dress. Come full-blown spring, they’ll add a schoolgirl edge to bouncy knee-length dresses. In July and August, I really like the idea of an oversized white shirt, cutoff shorts, and these loafers. (Similar to my approach here, just swap out the neon sandal for these patent bad boys.)

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Winter seems to have its grip on KC; we’ll spend a week or so in a deep freeze, get a little reprieve with spring-esque temps for a day or two, then we’ll plunge right back down into the teens. Oy. I know, I know. Spring doesn’t come until late March– but still! I amΒ ready. Bring on a new season, please and thank you.

  2. Well, well. The loafers return. lol. You styled them beautifully and how nice of the wind to cooperate by adding such a lovely effect to your photos! P.S. The cardigan is lovely!

  3. I am so happy a lot of the fashion trends from the 90s are making a come back. My mom kept telling me it’s cyclical but I just scratched my head, I am no fashionista but I sure do love cute clothing! Cue in your stylish loafers. Ah, these are perfection and I love that something so simple can elevate an outfit. It’s perfect for getting together with pals and not to mention comfortable. Spring arrived early for us as it’s been warm and nearing hot in the 80s. I am sending it your way and hope it the warm temperature arrive in your neck of the woods soon!

    1. My mom and grandmother used to say the same thing, and I never really believed them- now I totally get it! πŸ˜‰

  4. This is a great look and something I would absolutely wear – I live in cardigans at work, especially during the cooler months. Love the look of those loafers too!

  5. I’ll take one of everything. Looks so good together. We too have a similar winter/spring situation although our spring often doesn’t arrive until late April.

  6. I think I might still have a pair of those loafers buried in my shoe closet somewhere. Lucky me! You look gorgeous in this outfit. I love the cardigan with that lace cami.

  7. What a lovely outfit for spring! I like wearing my cardigans like this in spring and autumn – although it’s officially autumn here the weather is still very summer like so it will be a while before I get my cardigans out again, haha!

Hope that you are having a great weekend πŸ™‚ We spent the day with my mum yesterday shopping the sales for the leap day (and getting some great toy bargains we’ve put away for the kids birthdays!)
