Edgy athleisure in a pair of leather leggings and sneakers.

First of all, praise 50-degree days in January. That’s downright balmy for KC this time of year, so I took the opportunity to wear a lightweight suede jacket (a Christmas present; it comes in so many colors and is worth every penny) and faux leather leggings for a quick shoot. I scored these burgundy bad boys from H&M a year or so ago, but they’re just now seeing the light of day. (This happens far too often in my closet– a wardrobe minimalist, I am not.) I used a light gray soft + slouchy crewneck sweatshirt and matching pair of Nike’s to pull the burgundy and tan together. The overall look is really comfortable + rooted in athleisure, but with some serious edge from those leather leggings and sassy suede jacket.

I need to find more uses for these faux leather leggings. (You can shop a few killer pairs still in stock here and here, by the way.) Maybe under a tunic with tall boots? Or with an oversized sweater or winter-appropriate dress? Time to remix, folks.

  40. I love your sassy tomboy look. The colors are so eye-pleasing, and I love the cool way your sweatshirt sleeves and hem peek out from the suede jacket. I’ve wondered lately about combining leather and suede – works beautifully!
