Kicking Off KCFW at Kindred. | Ashley from LSR

KCFW Kickoff with Kindred Shops.

Shopping at Kindred is the best way to kick off Kansas City Fashion Week.

The Kansas City Fashion Week team launched another season with a private shopping event at my go-to spot, Kindred Shops. Fashion kismet! The best type of KCFW kickoff includes some shopping. Despite a pretty chilly early spring morning (super windy + temps in the 40s), I pulled this bright floral midi dress out of my closet and paired it with those bright pink pumps from last week. This dress looks really conservative, with its long sleeves and high neckline, but then you see that thigh slit. Hello! Too fun to pass up. I added a metal belt for some interest and my fave classic black leather jacket for toughness.

Kindred is such a beautiful space, located in the Nordstrom wing of Oak Park Mall. It’s huge and houses over 16 different boutiques. I love the industrial feel, the curved racks organized by color, and the beautiful dressing room concept. Perfect for hosting the KCFW kickoff party!

I always get really excited about a Kindred run, as you can see.

I stepped outside Kindred for a quick shoot with KCFW photog Jason Atherton to capture my outfit (and totally embarrass myself posing in front of a mall full of Sunday shoppers).

What did I tell you about those dressing rooms? Swoon.

I hit the event with my main KCFW babes, Caitlin and Brina. We’ve been doing this for several seasons now, and it’s so fun to get dressed up and take in all the fashion. For the kickoff party, it was about indulging in a few mimosas and sweet treats by Dolce Bakery and shopping all those beautiful racks full of spring goodies.

    1. Yesss ma’am, we sure do! I don’t think it’s common knowledge to people based outside of the Midwest, though, so don’t feel bad. 😉 We did have a blast!

  1. What a fun event! Those treats look like a delight, and the store almost seems overwhelming, how could you shop it all?!
Love the dress you chose, long sleeve dresses are perfect while we are still in this transitional weather.

  2. That jacket was made to be paired with that beautiful Spring dress! And, I just love those statement earrings! I have never been to KC Fashion Week, def. would be fun and I’m just next door in STL!
