Green Satin Prairie Dress + Snakeskin Boots.

Holiday chic in a satin prairie dress and 80s-style snakeskin boots.

The holiday countdown is on! Do you know what you’re wearing? I’ve got a few ideas on deck. First up? This green satin prairie dress. The cottagecore trend was big this year (you saw me wearing it back in March and September) and now I’m seeing it through with a Christmas vibe.

The satin gives an immediate glam effect, as does that rich, holiday-friendly hunter green. But the tiered ruffles and floral print are clearly Little House on the Prairie. I love how they play together in this super affordable number.

A tall boot (bonus points if it’s slouchy) and a long dress have been another popular style combo lately. I wanted to add some edge and interest, and these snakeskin boots did just that. (Get a similar pair here or here.) Oh- and don’t forget warmth! No open-toed anything here, it is December, after all.

A pair of gold hoops and a statement pendant necklace add a little holiday sparkle without going overboard. And voilΓ ! I’m ready for a Zoom Christmas with the fam.

I’ve been snapping up more and more satin pieces lately. I used to slag off satin– but that was in the days when we were wearing things more tailored and closer-fitting. Skintight satin had a tendency to crease and wrinkle, and that created lumps and bumps where there were no lumps and bumps when worn in a bodycon fashion.

The satin pieces I’ve been buying are similar to this satin prairie dress: looser, more bias cut, oversized. This gives that satin room to move– and isn’t that pretty, billowy movement the whole point?– and also keeps wrinkles from forming as easily.

    1. While I totally get going casual (especially this year!) there’s something kinda nice about dressing up- even if it’s just for you!

    1. It definitely feels much more high end than Nasty Gal- which is amazing! I am quite pleased with it- and it’s so festive, so it’s perfect right now! πŸ™‚

  1. Beautiful dress, such a great shade of green! And the snakeskin are just spectacular with it! Have a terrific Tuesday girl!

  2. Wow this dress and boot combo is gorgeous!

Also slightly unrelated, this is probably the longest that I have ever stayed still for and it was driving me nuts, but I’ve come back to your blog after months of not visiting (I’m sorry, it’s been a hard couple months), and I am so glad to be back. It feels so familiar to be back on your blog, and I hope to re-live vicariously through your tales and photographs.

I hope you are doing well, and it is good to be back on your blog !! <3

  3. I don’t have any satin pieces, but you are making me want to get some. This green and white dress is so beautiful and those boots are an unexpected surprise, but they go so well… the snakeskin is a nice contrast with the floral print!! So pretty!

    1. I have rediscovered satin now that they’re doing it in more bias-cut pieces! It can actually be a fun fabric to wear when you don’t need to worry about it creating weird lumps and bumps!

    1. I really like the edge the boots lended the look! Of course, this dress would work with a pretty pump, but I had to give this print mix a shot! πŸ˜‰

    1. Thank you, Mireille! I was skeptical at first because satin definitely presents some challenges, but a looser-cut really makes a world of difference!

  4. You look beautiful in this dress. The boots are gorgeous too. Plus, your curls are so pretty. You have fantastic hair! Great look for sure. You’re rocking this prairie dress outfit!
