A Green Dress to Celebrate Spring with KC Homes & Style.

Happy first day of spring! Time to go green.

While today marks the first day of spring, KC will still be fighting cooler temps until at least May-ish. I’m employing those transitional outfitting skills in the latest issue of KC Homes & Style so I can dress like it’s warm outside while not freezing in the process.

This green dress is such a great spring 2020 score; those mini pleats, puffy sleeves, and square necklines are right on-trend.  I layered another spring trend on top: a light-colored suede jacket. White booties (which you’ve seen before) underscore that boho vibe and further prove you don’t have to wait until Easter to break out the white shoes.

How 90s is this dress? I love the prairie feel to it, but the almost-shiny tightly-pleated daisy printed green material is definitely straight from my Gadzook’s closet of yore. It works now on breezy early spring days, but it’s lightweight enough to come in handy as a July dress. (Summer wedding, anyone? With a white strappy sandal and a bold fuchsia lip? Yes, please.)

This jacket has been in my closet for ages, but light-colored suede and leather is having a big moment this spring. (Seriously, if you ever wanted to get a blush moto jacket, this is the year to do it.) I love it with classic basics like jeans and a t-shirt, but it gives this super feminine dress some edge.

I hope everyone is staying safe + healthy during this COVID-19/coronavirus pandemic. Many of us are working for home (indefinitely!), while others are out of work until this madness passes over. The uncertainty of the time can be very overwhelming.

The most important thing is to keep yourself well. Stay home as much as you can, wash those hands, and don’t hoard supplies and/or food– it means someone who needs ’em goes without!

I work for a national medical membership organization, so my days are packed with communicating and curating quality information that can help our physician members get what they need to a) keep themselves and their staff healthy while also b) providing care to the communities they serve. It’s a lot right now, especially with the tremendous amount of misinformation (or information-hoarding, ahem) happening in the ether.

If you’re looking for something a little lighter, I’ve been keeping the KC Zoo’s penguin livestream up in a separate browser while I work. Watching these little guys waddle + swim around puts a smile on my face, despite the fact it feels like I’m staring down the barrel of a COVID-19 communications gun. 🙂

Sending you guys all the alcohol-sanitized vibes!
