Easy early fall outfitting in a faded red striped button-up.

I’ve been buying all the striped things lately (from blouses to trousers), and today’s post in right in line with that theme. This red striped button-up was a great H&M find; I loved the faded striped and oversized + boxy cut. Makes it perfect for half-tucking or knotting at the waist of high-waisted jeans, like these black skinnies (also from H&M + are under $35). I added a pair of blush suede heels to keep this look summer-to-fall transitional, but both ankle and tall boots work if you’re in full-stop fall mode.

What I dig about this outfit is that it goes anywhere. If your office allows jeans, the striped button-up and heels play really well there (otherwise swap for cigarette trousers). You can wear this to just about any non-formal social gathering, from happy hour to a date night. And don’t feel locked into wearing heels; a ballet flat (or aforementioned ankle boot) works just as well.

While the afternoons still heat up here in the Midwest, a striped button-up like this is key because it’s lightweight but has a longer sleeve (which can be cuffed, like I’m wearing it here) to lend a little bit of a fall feel. I also really like the look of a striped button-up and shorts, either with ankle boots or sneakers for a casual-but-polished outfit.
