Cream Free People Christening Dress.

A floaty + boho cream Free People dress for early June.

This cream Free People dress could be a lot of things: a dress for a christening (as I’ve titled it), an oversized piece from Harry Styles’ solo tour, or a re-purposed set of gauzy drapes in your grandma’s guest bedroom. (I love all three of those descriptions, btw.) But it ends up being a pretty LCD (little cream dress) when paired with strappy sandals.

Kansas City summers are notoriously humid (see also: muggy, sticky, oftentimes gross), so breezy pieces like this are key for beating the heat. As much as I love my denim cutoffs and bodysuits, I would much rather be in a floaty boho number like this cream Free People dress on days when the humidity is high.

This cream Free People dress is such a breezy, fun piece. You can wear it off the shoulder like I am here, or pull those shoulders up. I also think it would be cute styled as a tunic half-tucked into a pair of high-waisted cutoffs.

Now that we’re firmly rooted in spring-almost-summer and the tree in front of our house has leafed out, the front porch shoots are back! I’m sure my neighbors are wondering what in the actual hell I’m doing out there, swinging around in outfit after outfit while my pal + photog, Brina, snaps my photo. We haven’t had the chance to really get to know anyone yet (although everyone has been super nice + welcoming) and leading with, “Hi, I’m Ashley, you’ll probably see me out in the front wearing dumb outfits all the time because I’m a style blogger” just isn’t a feasible introduction. 😉

You’ll notice my hosta (yes, that hosta from the old house; we transplanted both the big ones) is starting to really take off. This gives me so much joy, you guys. Those hostas are my plant children!

    1. FP can be hit or miss on me- like something will look amazing on the model and then not really translate to my body for whatever reason. But this! This worked. 🙂

  1. Just love the boho vibes from this dress and those simple nude heels paired with it. We do most of my outfit photos in my backyard and I’m not sure yet if my neighbors have figured out what I’m doing! Ha!

  2. First of all, I love that you transplanted your hostas! And secondly, and most importantly you look fabulous! I seriously love that dress on you!

    1. I just couldn’t bear to leave them behind- I had to put it in the seller’s disclosure that I was taking them, haha. And now they’re back! 🙂 Happy Friday, babe!

  3. That dress is so easy breezy and gorgeous! We had so many hostas at our old house and I miss them so much! I am kicking myself for not taking a few shoots of some here and there (literally over 50 plants easily). We have like 3 now.

    1. Aren’t hostas the BEST?! I just had to take my two massive ones- they were over 10 years old; I planted them the first spring I was in my old house and they grew with me. They’re my plant babies!

  4. I just love outfits like this for the hot summer. It’s perfect on you Ashley!!

  5. You look stunning in this creamy dress. I like how you paired it with heels for a dressy look. Such a great look altogether.

I agree with you about the best thing to wear for humid weather. Boho and flowly dresses are life saving items in summer.

    1. Totally agree! I definitely don’t want to wear anything too heavy or clingy when it’s hot outside! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Kathrine! These heels have got to be at least 10 years old, but they’re a summer staple for me!

  6. We have similar weather in south Texas. Humid, hot air! This dress is perfect for that and I love the color! I hope you have cooler days ahead of you!
