Chambray Punch.

A basic chambray shirt will get you through every season, every event, at any time. You can dress it up or down, keep it androgynous or make it girly, layer it or wear it as a standalone piece. Short story: you need one.

I took the aforementioned chambray and basic black cropped trousers and added bright punches of color in the form of a statement necklace (also worn here), belt, and candy-colored flats. Easy, comfy 9-5 outfit with lots of fashion bang for your buck.

Love the yellow-dipped chain.

The landscaping project went well; we’ve mapped out several areas of the yard slated for a makeover + replaced old bushes in the front of the house with shiny (read: alive) new ones. It’s going to take several more weekends to get everything done, but I’m excited for the challenge and of course to see the finished result. πŸ™‚

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Such a classic outfit, and I love the bright pieces you’ve added it make it more spring-like. πŸ™‚ Glad the landscaping is going well!

  2. What a great necklace! I love how you wear it in both this post and at your sister’s wedding rehearsal. πŸ™‚ Great job as always, Ash!

  3. I often wear my chambray top with black skinnies to work, too! My dress code is more laid back than most businesses, but I still like to look cute!

  4. Cute chambray shirt! They really are such staples pieces. You can also wear them as light jackets or as beach coverups. I also love them worn with denim. And I love how yours has that “worn in” look!

  5. I love the necklace, so fun & unique. Between the necklace, shoes & belt you are adding Pops of Color to your basic outfit. And yes a Chambray is a must!

    1. Thanks so much for the feature, Ada! I will do my best to get you a submission for your birthday blog post- however, with tight deadlines at work, I might not make it.

  6. You know I was just thinking about how I need a good chambray. Sometimes I think I’ve got it covered because I have a polka dot one, but I really think I’d like to have a basic one in a lighter wash. Because they really do go with everything, and I feel like they will be wearable all year long. I love all the bright colors you incorporated into your outfit!

  7. Love my chambray shirt— it is such a staple piece. I’m loving your bright pops of color, too. Such versatility to be had in such seemingly basic pieces!
