Blush Trench Morpheus-moonlighting.

Red pill or blue pill? Idk, is there a blush option?

A faux suede sleeveless blush trench was part of my spring style dreams. I had planned on wearing this trench as a dress with pink pumps and really get my Barbie on. Unfortunately, Kansas City spring is super finicky: 70° one day, 40° the next. And the latter was exactly the kind of day it turned out to be when I broke out this blush baby. Ugh. How to mitigate: wear it open by tieing the belt in the back, layered on over jeans and a turtleneck. (And keep the pink pumps in the mix!) You have to be ready to style pivot in KC.

It only makes sense for me to snag a pair of small 90s-esque sunglasses, considering my fashion foray as of late (exhibit a, b, c). So when I decided to wear this dress as a sleeveless trench, I figured why not go full Matrix Morpheus? The combination was a fun, super feminine spin on a classic 90s character. Who wouldn’t want to look like a blush (and blonde!) Morpheus? It was a brilliant outfit for brunch with the girls.

TCEC trench dress (similar here and here, and love this traditional trench in blush) // Gap jeans // H&M turtleneck (similar on sale here) // Sam Edelman pumps // Kendra Scott necklace (almost exact here) // Amazon sunglasses (also love these) // Rebecca Minkoff bag (similar here)

You will definitely see this blush trench again, once spring fully takes hold. And while I love it with the brighter pink pumps, it would be perfect with a nude sandal or even a tortoiseshell pump to offset those buttons. It would also be pretty worn open over a summer dress, or as a girly spin on cutoffs and a t-shirt. Despite being a statement piece in and of itself, it has some serious remix potential.

If you want to see if the small 90’s sunnies work for you, I’d recommend Amazon. You can find some super cheap options to test drive the trend before committing to something more expensive. I picked up these for under $10!

    1. Soooo strange, right? I can’t take all the back-and-forth between cold and warm! But I’m sure once summer comes and KC is SO hot, I’ll be dreaming of cooler days, lol.

  3. I love this trench vest! I have a similar one and always get a ton of wear out of it. I like how you styled it with jeans, and I know it will look great with a dress when the weather cooperates.
