Something you need in your wardrobe: a few variations of the classic button down shirt. (Or maybe you call it a button up, an oxford shirt, etc.)Â A fitted version, a slouchy boyfriend version, and something in between. Be it crisp white or baby blue, a shirt like this is an easy way to add a little classic American style to a pair of skinny jeans and flats.
Kansas City was blessed with a warm front last week; think 70° days and actual sunshine. A definite spring tease before the snow returned over the weekend, but I’ll take what I can get in terms of nice weather in late January. Warm weather meant venturing out jacket-less in a button down and ankle-length jeans. To finish the outfit: a pair of tortoiseshell flats (seriously love these; bring ’em baaaaaack, JCrew!), high ponytail, and a leather crossbody.
Shop the look:
A good high + low mix in your closet is smart. You can stock up on basics at stores like Target and Gap (which are improving on design + quality all the time), and pick up a few luxe pieces here and there, like this gorgeous almost-marsala-colored leather Saint Laurent bag. (Or notâ if designers aren’t your thing, that’s cool too. You don’t have to spend big bucks to be stylish.)
Love this classic look! I agree that having different variations of a button down shirt is a definite must! Um, and that bag…for real?!?! Gooooorgeous (jealous).
I have been eyeing a similar YSL bag for a while now… I think I am going to finally take the plunge and invest in one myself come spring. A classic cross body is never a bad idea! xo, Amanda
You’re so lucky to be living somewhere where there is 70 degree weather in February. Anyway, love the outfit-very casual but styled great! I also love your messy ponytail style 🙂

Me encantan esas camisas de estilo masculino, esta es preciosa por su color, aquí seria imposible llevarla en estos momentos pues nos estamos congelando de frió,
Un beso guapa. https://pepavallejos.wordpress.com/
This is one of my all-time favourite combinations to wear on my days off, love it! It’s so simple yet still put together so it still looks like you’re trying, haha. You look stunning!
Great advice on the button downs, you’re right they really are a must have closet staple! Love how you are rocking this one with the gorgeous tortoise shell flats and YSL cross body!
I’m loving your classic look! Everything looks so preppy and pressed, and you have fun hardware and accessories to jazz it up! <3 http://trend-mixblog.com/
I’m dying over that bag and I cannot believe that button down is from Target! (I mean, I can because Target is the best but, it looks more expensive and yay that it’s not!) Love the whole look.
