All Beige, Baby: Crochet Top and Zara Trousers.

Chic beige monochrome in a crochet top and trousers.

Untie the yacht, honey, I’m ready to set sail! Not really– Kansas is landlocked– but this look screams taking a spin around the French Rivera. A beige crochet top from VICI and wide-leg cropped Zara trousers (similar here and here) come together nicely for a summer outfit with some polish. (Very reminiscent of my all-beige outfit back in April, no?)

I layered a black bralette (under $20 from Amazon) because this top has bigger holes in it than your grandma’s afghan– in a cool way. I thought about going with a nude bra, but then liked the way the black played against the darker hues in the tortoiseshell sandals (similar versions here and here) and sunglasses (another Amazon score). The Garmin Venu I wear constantly also works perfectly with this all-neutral ensemble. Fashion kismet, I tell you!

Despite being an overgrown doily, this top is pretty sexy. I like how it contrasts against the higher-waisted, 80s-esque trousers. Great texture play between the top and bottoms, too. The tortoiseshell elements are really fun– they lend a little luxury, right?

These trousers could easily go into the office (if you’re back in the office, that is). The top would be a cute swimsuit cover-up, too, for those pool-to-barbecue times. I shall be doing neither, ha– at least not right now. I’m still working from home until at least after Labor Day (you can see more of what my usual outfits are here), and we’re steering clear of any large gatherings in the meantime.

It does feel quite strange to be styling looks during a time when we’re not exactly hunting for new outfits. It’s more about creativity for me and continuing to create outfits I really enjoy, even if I don’t have anywhere to wear ’em. Gotta keep that outfitting muscle strong, even in quarantine!

  1. Man, how much would I give to actually be on a yacht right now? Planning outfits for it and imagining it is totally the next best thing! I’m on “staycation” from work this week and it’s +31 degrees celsius outside so I’m basically spending the week in shorts and old t-shirts in my air conditioned living room and realizing how much I enjoyed having work and all those Zoom meetings as a nice excuse to plan outfits and get dressed.

I think this is my next Copy-Cat outfit!
I think if you did not put a black tank under the crochet top, this look would not be the same…but it’s that extra added depth of the black that pulls off the monochroma outfit!
and don’t even get me started on how much I love the tortoise patent shoes–anything tortoise is my game!
great job on styling this out!

    1. You are so sweet, Omaye! And aren’t the textures really fun? Great styling element to play with. Hope you’re having a great week!

  5. Very pretty. Smart choice with the black bralette: its dark color gives the outfit 3-dimensional appearance of depth and picks up the dark tone of the sandals. I also love the cinched waist of the trousers. A real winner!

  6. I absolutely love the way you styled this outfit! The lace detail is so perfect for the summer! Thanks for sharing!
