A Summer Sweater with Tropical Slides.

Keeping a sweater (or three) on hand for summer.

I do the same song and dance this time every year: don’t pack away all your sweaters when you put those fall and winter pieces away. Keeping a few lightweight sweaters handy makes for a functional outfit on those cooler days and night. I love a summer sweater with denim, like these kick flare jeans, a denim skirt, or cutoff shorts. It adds a beach bonfire element to a look; very Jennifer-Aniston-in-a-Smartwater commercial.

I paired this Free People summer sweater (from last season; here’s this year’s version) with these super fun tropical print Dolce Vita slides. They’re a total score, coming in at under $50! The cropped jeans worked nicely on a cooler late spring day, but these slides will play well later in the summer with shorts + dresses.

I like my summer sweaters oversized; this makes ’em easy to layer over bodysuits, bralettes, and even bathing suits. I know it sounds a bit counterintuitive– a sweater with a swimsuit– but I seriously get so many compliments when I throw on a slouchy, loose knit sweater like this over my suit for a BBQ or bonfire. (It definitely works better for evening poolside activities, of course, when the sun sets and the air cools off.) And you know even though it heats up outside in the summer, those offices and stores stay frosty. A summer sweater is perfect!

  6. That looks like such a comfy knit! While we definitely don’t need knits in summer with the humidity here in Brisbane, I do keep a few cardigan out for when I’ll be at work in the cold aircon and need a cover up, haha!

Hope that you are having a great weekend! It’s a busy but fun one here.
