adidas is the cornerstone of any solid street style outfit.

Street style– you’ve probably heard this term tossed around blogs, glossy mags, and peppering hashtag streams. But what does it mean? Well, let’s explore: the term street style came from the British fashion scene (where everything worth its salt does) and is a fashion approach that combines different fashion aesthetics. Street style looks are usually left of center from mainstream fashion trends. (See also: funky, individualized, unique.)

For me, a street style look evokes a sense of casual coolness, where I combine several trends– usually sporty and dressy– for an offbeat-but-still-wearable outfit. The goal is to make it seem effortless, like, “Oh, this? Just threw it on,” while weaving in some interesting elements that make the look fresh.

To create this street style look, I teamed up with my good friends at adidas () because they do street style like no one else. And bonus: these street style-friendly elements are functional– wear ’em right to the gym!

A cool pair of sneakers is the basis for many a street style #ootd, and that’s where I began for this look. I love these . Lightweight, stylish, and heavy on those chunky-90s-sneaker vibes. Combined with , I had the bookends for a solid street style outfit. I chose a pair of high-waisted black jeans and then added dressier elements to create contrast: a killer statement belt and the perfect hat. Finally, a super oversized puffy parka added warmth and some quirk; this jacket is seriously big enough for two.

To take the look a step further, I swapped out the sneakers for a pair of classic black pumps to show how easy it is to take a sweatshirt into a nighttime setting. Tucked into the front of the jeans to show off that belt buckle, suddenly this look works for most date nights. That’s the classic marker of a street style outfit with good bones: the ability to tweak + remix and take it anywhere.

adidas blogger communityVersatility is a girl’s outfitting dream! Break the outfit apart and put that same sweatshirt with leggings and the sneakers, and now you’re off on a winter run. Swap the black jeans for classic blue, untuck the sweatshirt and trade the fedora for a ballcap and now you’re doing the weekend errands in comfort and style. adidas pieces like this remix so easily, you really can’t go wrong.

  36. I’ve always thought the same thing. It’s like that model-off-duty style. Effortless, like you just threw it on, but not really. Like this outfit. I love the sweater paired with some Gucci. Never thought to pair those two together and now, it’s all I’m thinking of.
