Let’s call this post what it is: an excuse for me to wear a hat.
I often lament that we all aren’t hat people. With the Derby being this past weekend, I’m even further convinced that it should be more acceptable and less of a fashion risk to wear a fun hat on a run to Target. Who’s with me?
Anyway, it was rainy and dreary on Friday night, so I popped this wide-brimmed fedora on for a sushi date with the guy. Wore it with denim on denim, my new favorite little stompers from Jeffrey Campbell, and an armful of bracelets. The result? A little Canadian tuxedo, a bit Van Helsing, and some brights mixed in via the bangles and a hot pink bag.
I never used to be a hat girl until I started blogging actually! Most of my hats are winter hats, so I need to invest in more summer ones! I DO have a straw fedora for the beach, though!
You’re so cute, especially in that hat! Wear it more often, girl. I follow so many bloggers that are never without head pieces and it is crazy cute. Loving that hot pink bag!
I LOVE HATS! I wish I could wear them more, but obviously can’t wear them to work 🙂 Definitely my favorite accessory on the weekends though! You look adorable in a hat!
I’ve thought about this before, because I feel like I can only really “get away” with wearing a hat when I’m on a beachy vacation. But then I remember that I can’t pull them off anyway haha. You look great in yours!
haha, I love the “Canadian tuxedo” reference, classic! I seriously ask that question all the time! Another reason to be an anglophile, you can walk around with an incredible hat and no one would think twice. Do it in the states and someone might think you’re going to a costume party! I love this look, and the hat you are wearing is totally day to day appropriate!
Thanks, lovely! I just recently found my old baseball hat collection (stored from college, where popping on a ball cap and shuffling to class in sweats was the norm). Oooh, the good ol’ days. 🙂
I totally agree – I always feel a bit odd when I’m wearing hats – other than casual baseball hats.. you look darling!
You always look so cute and happy! I love your hat it looks so stylish, I’m a hat person, I love a hat, especially a fedora, whether it’s summer or winter I’ve got the hat for the occassion. Plus PLUS it hides a bad hair day too! Result!
Van Helsing or not, lol, you look awesome in this hat!
I love hats!!!! on everyone but me. You look great!
Gorgeous hat! I love hats, I wish people would wear them more- maybe you and I should start a trend! 🙂

You should’ve purchased that top hat in STL. That would’ve been a good derby hat. lol
You are right- I most definitely should’ve bought that top hat. Also the huuuuuuuge sun hat at Saks. Regrets!
Really like how you styled a darker outfit with bright jewelry and accessories to make it pop! That aztec bracelet is super pretty!
Awesome post!
You make a pretty hot Van Helsing. 🙂
Happy Tuesday back at you!

I think I look terrible in hats, they just don’t work for me. But you look cute with your fedora, in love with your JC cut-out boots.

Oh I am a big fan of hats. Especially in winter, they really do make a difference and make you warmer and in summer they keep the sun off your face.
I love a great fedora! You look fabulous in it. xo, Julie

Rebecca, you’re too kind. 🙂 And I only WISH the people of KC were as hat-savvy as the LDN set. Another reason LDN > everywhere else. 🙂
In love with your oversized jeans and hat… such a fun look!
