Ahhh, September in Kansas City: where checking the forecast is totally necessary because anything can happen, but you can hedge your bets it’s going to feel like summer until at least the end of the month. I’m definitely in a fall frame of mind but need lightweight pieces to keep from sweating through my clothing. This transitional tropical dress is the absolute jam because it’s super breezy like summer but painted in fall-esque colors. Can you wear it in June? Yep. Can you wear it in October? Yep again. Today I’m wearing it with a pair of slouchy faux suede boots to amp up that fall factor, but last week I wore it to the office with brown leather sandals and it worked just as well.

I also layered on a utility jacket because I loved the way it looked; a nice easy layering job to inch into fall. However, I ditched the utility jacket when I wore it out for date night later because holy hell, Kansas was a sweatbox that day. Come true fall, I’ll layer a turtleneck and leggings underneath, or top it with a heftier leather jacket. This cool transitional tropical dress is going to carry me through Thanksgiving, just you watch.
