Still on the wide-leg pants train.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll note this is my third pair of printed wide-leg pants (exhibit A, B) this year. Enter exhibit C: these circus-stripe pants from Zara. (Seriously, I could be a circus tent in these trousers, and I’m totally good with it.) Mega-wide and breezy, these pants are perfect for this transitional summer-to-fall weather we’re having in KC. I cuffed and knotted a chambray shirt (old fave from Madewell; shop this year’s version here) to underscore the fall vibe, and slipped on a pair of pointed-toe red patent shoes to dress it up.

While skinny jeans will always have my heart, I’m really digging the return of wide-leg pants. They’re easier to wear than you think, and a vertical stripe like this only serves to lengthen the body and make you look about a foot taller than you are in real life. (I’m 5’5, just fyi.) I think taking a bit of an oversized button-up of some type (chambray, boyfriend, cotton) and knotting it at the natural waist is a bit easier to wear than a bodysuit, as it’s not quite as bodycon as the latter.

If you haven’t invested in a chambray shirt yet, I highly recommend this version by Madewell. I’ve had this puppy for at least 5 years, and I still reach for it weekly– both for fun looks like this and for the office.
