By now, you’ve likely grown tired of the winter wardrobe you’ve been wearing for months. I feel like I’ve been schlepping around in the same handful of cardigans, sweaters, trousers, and winter-weight dresses for ages.
But hope springs eternal, and spring weather is nearly here. Not quite warm enough for my tastes just yet, so in the meantime I’ve been filling my shopping carts (both online and physical) with bright pops of color paired with easy neutrals in spring-y materials like straw and silk. My haul thus far:
Yellow hasn’t always been my color. In fact, I didn’t much care for it until very recently. And then I started stumbling across bright eyelet dresses (Delia’s) and simple scoop tees (Victoria’s Secret) and changed my mind. Wear the tee with anything; you can warm it up with trousers and jeans for now, and then pull an Alessandra and slip on some denim cut-offs in late May. The yellow eyelet dress is both Easter-cute (when carrying a basket of dip-dyed eggs) and Memorial Day BBQ-chic (just have a cardigan on hand for cool spring nights).
Another color blast courtesy of Fergie’s Sunburst sandal in aqua and black. How fun are these? I love the shape– booties-but-not-quite, and can’t wait to wear these with skinnies (can you imagine with black destroyed denim?) and skirts.
To anchor the looks, I found this silk boyfriend-cut blazer in a creamy nude (Victoria’s Secret) and a straw fedora (Alloy). I’ve decided the blazer in general can be worn over just about anything, and this particular choice will add some slouch and flow to body-con dresses and tank top/jean combos alike.
Last but not least, I’ve had a crush on this boot tray from Ballard Designs for weeks now. I’ll get a lot of use out of this with the coming spring rains and a live-in boyfriend with perennially-filthy shoes. Now I just need a pair of Hunter’s to go in it.
That silk jacket is so cool!
I wouldn’t know how to wear it if I saw it in the store. But I like what you suggested, and what the model has on in the pic.
I’m so happy that spring is finally here! Great post!
Love, love, love the Fergie shoes!! The teal color is amazing and even better in person!
Agreed on those shoes! HOT!
