When you think of neutral colors, do you limit yourself to the standard black, white, and tan?
Don’t.
Olive green totally falls in neutral territory these days. (And while we’re on the the subject: navy is a neutral, too.)
The instinct is to match this taupe blouse with basic black trousers, but I grabbed a pair of olive green cords from J.Crew instead to shake up an easy workday outfit. (Make no mistake, black pants with this blouse would work well, but reaching for a different neutral– like olive green– is another way to stretch pieces in your closet.) Black patent oxfords and a black glass bead necklace gave the outfit a bit of oomph.
What do you think of olive green as a neutral? Are you convinced?

I usually don’t think of army green as a neutral, but looks like I need to! This is a great casual office look, Ash. You look polished as always!

I think that it looks nice 😉

I love olive green as a neutral color- it makes your wardrobe go so much farther!
What a great pair of cords!
I have 3 pairs and live in ’em! Thanks, Sara!
Perfect office style!
You look so cute, Ashley. I really love olive green as a neutral.
Totally agree – olive IS a neutral. As is navy. And I would even argue leopard print and cobalt blue (blue goes with EVERYTHING).
Loving the way you styled those awesome olive pants! Love love LOVE those oxford shoes!
I am totally on board with this! I have been wearing my olive pants at least weekly these days!
Yayyy, go Team Olive! 🙂
I love olive as a neutral and have very similar pants. They are so versatile! I like it with your tan shirt and black accents. I agree navy is a great neutral as well!
olive green is one of my favorite colors for fall — i’m also thinking about some dark red pants?? just having trouble turning them into an outfit (i bet you could help with that!)
Oooh, LOVE dark red trousers/denim. Some quick ideas: with navy, with leopard, with cream/blush/mauve, and with black + white stripes. What do you think?
I need olive skinnies asap I think they are neutral for sure. You look gorgeous doll.

Totally agree that olive and navy are neutrals! And OMG I need those oxfords! I love them against the green pants. Gorgeous!
I would totally wear that shirt with with black pants and never think to wear it with anything else! You. Are. Genius.
Thanks, Rach! Black is super chic, but matching this blouse up with a more unexpected neutral stretches the closet- aka my goal in LIFE. 😉
I love how well those colours go together! Amazing xx

I absolutely agree with olive as a neutral. It’s one of my favorite colors for fall. I love seeing it paired with bright colors and jewel tones too – like cobalt and wine.
I love this color for fall… great combo doll!!!!
Kisssssss
Weirdly I count red among neutrals – because it matches all the other neutrals so well! But I do have some olive in my wardrobe, which I generally try to keep neutral, so… spot on!
