Chocolate Suede Jacket and Powder Pink for Spring.

Powder pink is huge for spring– here’s how to wear it now.

Dressing for the time in between winter and spring can be tricky. (This is especially true for the Midwest, when you often get both seasons in a single day.) As much as I’m ready for skirts and sandals, I have to anchor things with some warmth. Today I’m walking that seasonal line with a powder pink sweater under a chocolate brown jacket for the March and April edition of KC Homes & Style.

Powder pink was all over the spring runways. Not exactly groundbreaking to have a pastel in the spring forecast, but this feels fresh after a winter of neutrals. This sweater from Banana Republic is a lightweight piece that will wear well into May and June. I topped it with a vintage suede jacket (a secondhand score, but this version here and here are solid options). I love that chocolate brown against the baby pink; it’s a nice blend of traditional fall and spring.

If you’re going to try a spring trouser trend, give cargo pants a shot. (Yes, they’re back!) The updated versions are fitted through the hip and seat, which gives you a nice shape before the leg widens out. Last touch: a pair of Adidas sneakers. These add in more of that powder pink while also introducing a fun vibrant red for an unexpected punch.

Is it spring where you are? We’ve had quite a few warm days here in KC, but then immediately after a cold front will blow in and bring crashing temps (and sometimes even snow). It’s still mid-March, but I’m ready for a fresh new season! I’m also excited to get out in the gardens and tidy them up, and break out the pots for spring planting. One of my favorite times of the year!

  1. I’ve never thought to combine chocolate brown with powder pink! But, it’s like a match made in Heaven. I have seen cargo pants a lot recently, but the silhouette is updated like yours. I just might try them. We had snow flurries last week and will be in the 70s today! Midwest weather, right?

  3. That is a lovely outfit. It’s not quite spring here yet; in fact it’s in the 30’s today and they are forecasting snow for tomorrow but we have been getting some warmer, sunny days here and there so I know spring is finally on its way.

    1. Ugh, snow! I feel your pain, haha. We’re slowly inching warmer- hoping to be done with the chance of snow here soon!

      Thanks for swinging by, Joanne!

  4. This is such a pretty look, Ashley!! I am with you on the weather, it’s sometimes really chilly in the mornings and then warmer in the afternoon/evening here in southern Ohio. I love powder pink, I need to get more pinks in my wardrobe!
