Fall weekends are made for going casual, but you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.
Case in point: this past weekend I wore a sweatshirt, jeans, and flats on a quick run downtown.
A stylish sweatshirt? Yes. The dressed-up sweatshirt has been around for a few seasons, and I’m a total fan. This isn’t your old college hoodie (although there’s nothing wrong with that; time and place), but a sophisticated spin on a cozy fave.
I pulled this graphic sweatshirt out of the back of my closet; it hadn’t seen the light of day since early spring, but felt right with the chill in the air. Ripped skinnies were an easy call, and this outfit gave me the opportunity to wear my second score from the folks at Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse: a pair of calf-hair slipper flats in a cool cheetah print.
A tortoiseshell statement necklace helped swing some style points, as did the addition of a few gold bangles. Between the fun graphic print of the sweatshirt, the jewelry, and the print pop of the shoe, there’s no way you can categorize this jeans-and-a-sweatshirt outfit as sloppy, am I right?
KC friends: don’t forget the new Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse store opens tomorrow (October 10th) in Overland Park. Address: 6401 West 135th Street. A little shoe shopping sounds like the perfect way to kick off your weekend!

I own the Philip Lim for Target sweatshirt, and it doesn’t look remotely as good on me as it does on you 😉
