If you missed Tuesday’s post, I styled a gorgeous navy bridesmaid dress from Sorella Vita the traditional way: topknot, black pumps + tights, and some statement earrings. Today is all about remixingâ putting that, “You can totally wear your bridesmaid dress again!” claim to the test.
Satin is not the most casual of fabrics, so I knew right away I needed to bring down that formal vibe. Enter a chambray shirt cuffed at the sleeve + knotted at the waist; this ushered in the easy-going and cinched things up. I ditched the tights for bare legs (brr, but will totally play come spring) and a neutral printed pump. A high messy ponytail replaced the dressy topknot, and subbed in layered boho bright white + gold jewelry for those formal statement pieces.
Where could I wear this? To the office, a dinner date, any sort of ladies-who-lunch event, etc. Adding in a denim topper definitely cuts that formal factor in half, and keeping the hair easy + breezy helps make the outfit seem more day than night.
Shop the look:
A massive thank you to my friends at Sorella Vita for the opportunity to style this dress on the blog this week. What a fun project! I am definitely reaching for this navy number for my next formal event, and love the idea of working it into the office wardrobe when worn with more casual pieces.
The folks at Better KC were kind enough to invite me back to have a chat about the color of the year (marsala!) on their morning program. Ah yes, live television, still terrifying.
Oh Ashley, this is such a gorgeous look – absolutely beautiful and you’re right this would go perfectly for a lunch with the girl, dinner date, office wear…I love it!!
Sorry I’ve been quite quiet over the past few days, been working on a new design for the blog which is now live so hope you like it!! 🙂
Please send some sunshine and warmth to the UK!!! 🙂
Recently I have started as a guest designer for a famous bag brand and my first design of a belt bag is out! <3 I would love to hear what you think about it! 🙂

Cool! I totally adore that idea of teaming the dress with chambray. I would have never thought that. Probably why I do not have a fashion blog.. LOL! I also need to say that your pictures are lovely. Credit to you and the person behind the camera.
Cute! You did a great job restyling this dress for a more “casual” look. I think that’s always the biggest question everyone has when they hang up their bridesmaid dress.
Good ol’ chambray to the rescue again! I think it’s the most perfect way to tone down the formal-ness of the bridesmaid dress and your styling is perfect!!
i love how you twist this dress for a more every day look, it’s perfect!!!
