If you missed Tuesday’s post, I styled a gorgeous navy bridesmaid dress from Sorella Vita the traditional way: topknot, black pumps + tights, and some statement earrings. Today is all about remixingâ putting that, “You can totally wear your bridesmaid dress again!” claim to the test.
Satin is not the most casual of fabrics, so I knew right away I needed to bring down that formal vibe. Enter a chambray shirt cuffed at the sleeve + knotted at the waist; this ushered in the easy-going and cinched things up. I ditched the tights for bare legs (brr, but will totally play come spring) and a neutral printed pump. A high messy ponytail replaced the dressy topknot, and subbed in layered boho bright white + gold jewelry for those formal statement pieces.
Where could I wear this? To the office, a dinner date, any sort of ladies-who-lunch event, etc. Adding in a denim topper definitely cuts that formal factor in half, and keeping the hair easy + breezy helps make the outfit seem more day than night.

A massive thank you to my friends at Sorella Vita for the opportunity to style this dress on the blog this week. What a fun project! I am definitely reaching for this navy number for my next formal event, and love the idea of working it into the office wardrobe when worn with more casual pieces.
The folks at Better KC were kind enough to invite me back to have a chat about the color of the year (marsala!) on their morning program. Ah yes, live television, still terrifying.
Yes! I think you styled this perfectly! The first thing I thought was how it would work perfectly for work now, and I think your other outing suggestions are spot on too.
I am impressed with this remix and the way you dressed down the dress with chambray. Hard to believe such a cohesive outfit started with a bridesmaid dress! Off to check out your TV segment!

This dress is stunning. I fell in love with it when I saw it on Tuesday. I love it even more how you styled it today with the tied chambray and those gorg python pumps! Super chic and feminine!
Remix done right! You look great. I love the casual appeal to this look. From the faux snake, to the chambray shirt. From the Layered necklaces to the messy side pony. This is styled really well and looks effortless…. which takes talent. Great job girlie!
OH! I just LOVE how you styled this, it is so so so cute like this! Great work Ashley… showing us how to make a bridesmaid dress a cute casual style too!
I love to mix cocktail and more casual looks together. I feel like you could even rock a pair of sneakers with this look and it would be great. xo, Amanda
