Have you ever been fitted for a bra?
I had been fitted on the floors of various Victoria’s Secrets before, but I had never had a one-on-one appointment with a dedicated fit specialistβ someone who could size me up just by taking a quick peek at me in just my bra. My friend Emily works at a local full-service lingerie boutique called clair de lune. Such a cute little spaceβ easy-going, comfortable atmosphere with huge range of sizes (28-52 band and cups A-K) and an impressive stock of lingerie, everyday bras, and panties almost too cute to cover up.
The right bra can make an outfit fit better and do wonders for how you feel both fully-clothed and dressed down. As Emily quickly pointed out to me after assessing my size, I had been wearing the wrong size bra for years. (This happens more often than you think! The staff at clair de lune estimate almost 90% of the women they initially fit have been wearing the wrong size bra.) The philosophy: you should buy a bra and wear it on the loosest hook (I had traditionally been a middle-hook girl), and then over time as the bra breaks in/stretches, you move to a tighter hook. Better fit, better look, more comfortable, happy boobs. All good things, yes? I mean, who doesn’t love a happy boob?
I ended up with quite the lingerie overhaul. Both everyday bras and gorgeous, hand-sewn lace pieces.
For my Kansas City ladies, I recommend you hit clair de lune and get yourself fitted. It’s also a great source for maternity and nursing bras, lingerie, sleepwear, sports bras and hosiery. A little something for everyone. π
From STL? clair de lune is expanding and plan to open up shop around August 15th.
For my non-local readers, google around for a small boutique and make an appointment with someone who knows how to do aΒ bra fitting. You won’t be sorry!
*I received a discount on my purchases at clair de lune; thoughts and opinions are my own.
Wait- why are you modeling these? LOL. π
What pretty pieces!
I love all your new bras! So, so pretty!
Gorgeous little underthings! π
Just lovely!
I actually got fitted a few years ago and it completely changed the way all of my clothes looked because I had been wearing the wrong size bra! I had sized the band way too big, and wasn’t getting enough support.
Great post- every girl should go and get fitted! π
Pretty!
I need to get fitted, apparently. π
That blue bra is so pretty! I love it!
These are beautiful! It’s definitely easy to wear the wrong size – I just recently heard the tidbit on wearing it on the loosest hook. Good to know for future reference!
I like the blue bra but I think the black one will fit perfectly for me π
That sounds like such a good idea, the few times I’ve been sized at Victoria’s Secret they have been wayyy off with my bra size. I know this post hadn’t said anything about a strapless bra – but I just discovered an amazing one: the Spanx cha cha strapless bra is absolutely amazing. I know sometimes people wear a strapless that is their cup size and it ends up falling off anyway, but spanx bras don’t…theyre fantastic! Just some easy advice from one fashion gal to the next π xo
This is great advice, Aya- I’m in the market for a new (and legit) strapless! π
I really need to go do this, because I have no idea what`s going on in my boob department haha. Love the ones you picked out!

That black bra is soooo gorgeous- love the little straps over the top!
How many people get to say they’ve been in Ashley’s lingerie? π Haha, love this post! A good fitting is great!
I’m drooling over how pretty everything is- what a great shopping haul!
really start on the longest hook then move inward i had no idea, i guess that makes sense the fabric will stretch and then you move, but i didn’t know that, thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous!
Great bra tips- love this post, Ash!
WOW those pieces are so gorgeous! Making me want to completely rehaul my lingerie collection!
I unintentionally did the same- walked in thinking I’d pick up one or two new pieces… And then this. Ha!
WOW, love the floral one!
ciao

You’re correct, a bra is crucial and could make a difference in an outfit…too bad I’m not used to wearing them :/

Of course, Tanya! Now off to get yourself fitted. π
Such pretty bras! I’ve never been fit by a specialist, but I was wearing the wrong band size for a while. I have a tiny rib cage so I always have to get 30 (or 32 usually since many brands don’t make 30s) and then a larger cup. It’s so frustrating! Glad to hear about places like this that make the process easier!
really??? I’d love to try it!! Nice bras!!!

Really cute bras! After a fitting at Victoria’s Secret I found out I was wearing the wrong size as well! π
I think happens more often than not! π
You treated yourself to a lovely varied selection! Good advice here too. I had a fitting last year in Marks and Spencer and the assistant told me then that many ladies wear the wrong size. If I lived closer, I would pop into this store!

Everyone loves a happy boob! You’re too funny!! We have a similar store called Braserie, Dearie! I have never been, but know I should. You scored some nice pieces!! I”m sure your hubs is happy about those purchases π
Indeed he is! And a happy boob is a good boob, agreed? π
I just read another article on this yesterday… maybe the universe is trying to tell me something?!
Love all your new pieces- so pretty!
