Spring is a Myth.

Yesterday was the first day of spring, but it definitely didn’t feel like it in the Midwest. Super cold and blustery, although the sun was shining (small wins). So even though I wanted to wear a bright yellow sundress and sandals, that wasn’t too reasonable. Believe it or not, there are limits to the amount of discomfort I’m willing to endure for fashion. And also looking stupid.

I started with a floaty sleeveless chiffon top and a mint-colored belt, but tempered the chill by adding cold-weather tested cords, suede booties, and my navy leather jacket. (The love affair with this jacket continues; I’m convinced I’ll be wearing it with summer-weight whites in early June.)

Jacket: Veda; top: Lauren Conrad; corduroys: Gap; booties: Nine West; belt: H&M

Sans favorite-jacket-ever.

…And we’re due for 2 more (potential) snow storms this week! The sundresses will have to wait.

  1. I would totally wear that amazing jacket all year long, too! Beautiful!

Love the booties and cords- great mix with the spring top!

  2. Here it was like a battle between winter and spring was going on yesterday. The morning started off with pouring rain and hail, but then the sun came out in the afternoon! Still really chilly though. I think the little pop of green and the floral prints in this outfit do a great job of making it springy, but you’re still keeping warm with the leather. Great look.

    1. I bought the belt just last weekend, and when I held it up to the top I noticed that the mints matched up! Fashion kismet. 😉

  5. Loving the bright mint with this outfit- really brings out the mint in the top! Hope your weather gets warmer soon! 🙂

  7. You look beautiful and spring-ready despite the temps!

Love your closet! Do you have to switch out winter and summer shoes, or do they all fit on the shelves?

    1. I’m ashamed (or am I proud?) to say that I have to rotate shoes and clothes by season: fall/winter and spring/summer. 🙂

One would think I would stop shopping… But no, never.

  8. This is so pretty! I love the blouse it makes it more spring-y even though this weather sucks! Seriously puts me in such a bad mood! I hope you are staying as warm as you can! Such a cute jacket too!

  9. i admit i pretty much only noticed that pop of mint from the belt and then i saw the rest of the outfit, love it! go KU march madness starts today!

  10. You look great.=) I so wish it could start feeling like spring soon… it’s been really cold here in Stockholm these last couple of days.

  11. I love this! What a great print on the top, and I love the pop of color with the belt! Definitely a great look for the midwest weather. The weather has definitely been weird this past year and the coming year. I mean, we had hailstorms in south texas, which never happens. I hope you get some sunshine for the summer dresses soon though! 🙂
