The suiting trend goes for a summer spin.

Summer in Kansas City is no joke, but that doesn’t mean you can’t lean into the suiting trend and still stay cool. Enter my new favorite: wide-leg linen trousers paired with a crisp white vest. The tailored vest nods to power dressing, while the navy pinstripe pants let the breeze flow through. It’s the perfect mix of structure and comfort for July and August in KC.

I swapped my usual gold necklaces for a beaded gemstone situation– deep blue beads that stand out against the white vest and echo the subtle pinstripes of the trousers. It’s a small change with a big impact.

For shoes, I chose white sandals featuring a chic toe‑ring detail. Sandals of this variety are very in right now and add just the right amount of polish. Bonus: they’re comfy!

Let’s talk versatility. These wide-leg linen trousers work everywhere from the office to happy hour patio hangs. They also travel well because they roll up super small, and a lived-in wrinkle doesn’t impact the overall vibe. Add a t-shirt underneath and a blazer over the top when the office air conditioning is cranked up, then ditch the topper after 5 p.m. for a more relaxed vibe. The linen fabric keeps things airy, and the suiting-inspired silhouette keeps you looking put‑together– even when you’re melting from the summer heat.

I styled this look for the July/August issue with Kansas City Homes & Style. What do you think– are you ready to suit up in the heat?
