You have The Thing you’ve been waiting for. The Thing that is supposed to make you happy, complete, etc. Maybe it’s the dream job, maybe it’s the dream marriage– you got it.
…And then you wake up one day and realize: “I’m not happy.”
So what do you do when the fairytale doesn’t work out? In marriage, it happens more often than you think– the divorce rate in the US hovers between 40-50%.
I sit down with my good friend and fellow member of the Formerly Married Club, Jared Dunn, to talk through this. Our experiences are very (very!) different and offer two points of view on how to uncouple (and how no one really knows what they’re doing).
This episode is all about maneuvering through massive life change (divorce, career pivots) and finding yourself on the other side.
In this episode:
-
Leaving a dream job to find real happiness in work + career
-
Ending a relationship that no longer serves either party (and working to stay friends throughout)
- Rectifying things like career pivots and failed marriages with the fairytales we were sold as kids
-
The other side of divorce and how it feels to put yourself back out there
