Head-to-toe Red in a Blazer Dress.

Trend alert: all red everything.

Wearing red head to toe is going to be a big trend this fall (and winter). Never fear: red is actually more flattering than you think (and I’ll dig into some easier to tackle remix options below). I forecasted this trend as part of a television segment a few weeks back and I wore this red blazer dress on-air with a pair of matching pumps to illustrate my point. (You can watch that segment here, btw.)

This trend isn’t actually new; it gets its legs from comes from the 80s, where people dressed in head-to-toe power colors. I leaned into that 80s vibe by sizing up in this dress to get that boxy, 80s-esque fit. I know, I know. 80s fashion coming back? The horror! So let’s say going full-stop 80s isn’t your thing, but you still want to test drive this power color as a trend. Keep the pieces you choose modern: think a cigarette trouser and a tailored blouse or sweater. Choosing current pieces = keeping the look rooted in the now vs. the then.

A little intimidated by red? Try it on the bottom half of your body first with a red pant or a skirt + red pumps, then choose a neutral blouse or sweater. Or go with head-to-toe burgundy; still technically a red but much easier to wear. (And still so pretty for fall, winter, and holiday!)
