Neutral Olive.

When you think of neutral colors, do you limit yourself to the standard black, white, and tan?

Don’t.

Olive green totally falls in neutral territory these days. (And while we’re on the the subject: navy is a neutral, too.)

The instinct is to match this taupe blouse with basic black trousers, but I grabbed a pair of olive green cords from J.Crew instead to shake up an easy workday outfit. (Make no mistake, black pants with this blouse would work well, but reaching for a different neutral– like olive green– is another way to stretch pieces in your closet.) Black patent oxfords and a black glass bead necklace gave the outfit a bit of oomph.

What do you think of olive green as a neutral? Are you convinced?

  1. I never thought of olive green or navy being neutrals, but you are so right! I definitely agree with you. Love the olive green pants and the taupe blouse together. Your shoes are adorable as well! : )

  2. Thanks for inspiring me on how to wear olive green, you’ve done such a chic and polished outfit presentation, love the shirt. Thanks for your visit hun…I am currently away and will be back to blogging on Friday

  3. I agree, people can get too caught up in black, white and tan when there are several others colors that can be used neutrally. I feel the same way about NAVY. I think navy is a great neutral! You look fabulous doll!

  4. To me: Black, Ivory, White, Tan, Camel, Olive, Brown, Navy, Beige & Cream, perhaps even Blush are all Neutrals. I am wearing Olive Green Skinnies as you speak. And I am pinning this for me to re-create.
