Errand-Running Edge + Joules Outerwear.

Looking sharp while running errands is a challenge anytime, much less in the dead of winter when you’re dealing with salty, slushy streets and slippery market floors. While I’m not above a late-night grocery run in my sweatpants, errand-running at noon on a Saturday requires a one to be a bit more presentable.

The team at Joules was kind enough to let me select a few items to style for just this type of outing. I had a few requirements:

  • Classic pieces that could be worn for several seasons
  • Pieces that would keep me warm + protected from the elements
  • Low on the bulk-factor (I hate it when you’re outerwear gets in the way once you’ve actually made it inside Target, for example)

Voilà!

Coat and Boots (on sale!)- Joules; Jeans- Joe’s; Sunglasses- Ray-Ban

I fell in love with the Calverly quilted coat immediately– it’s a classic English countryside field jacket in a gorgeous color. The coat has several functional pockets and is a great weight. It kept me warm as I ran around town on a very blustery January afternoon, but not too warm once I got inside. The lightweight nature of the coat allowed me to move around without feeling restricted (another plus) and will be appropriate fall through early spring.

I also picked up the Woodhurst boot in navy. A duck boot is a blessing when navigating snowy + slushy sidewalks, and the tall boot shaft keeps my jeans clean of the dreaded salt splatter you kick up when trying to make it from the parking lot to Starbuck’s. The boots were super warm and cozy; my feet stayed toasty despite the temperatures. The laces are navy and pink, and the inside of the boot has a cute floral print. A great winter boot to keep you dry + stylish.

So what to style under the coat? I went with a really simple outfit (skinny jeans and a lighter chambray top) and layered on some statement jewelry and a pink lip to give the whole look a little boost.

Adding a few extra pieces in the form of a bright statement necklace, a chunky boyfriend watch, and a sparkly pave bracelet punch up what is essentially a Canadian Tuxedo. All-denim is a really good outfit base; the jewelry just brings in a little sparkle to make things more interesting.

Have a great weekend, everyone– and check back next week. I’m kicking off a killer Valentine’s giveaway with a few of my blogging friends that will put some serious cash in your pocket. (Money for lingerie? A night on the town? Really, really good chocolate? Yes, yes, yes.)

  1. Oh gosh, you don’t even want to see what I look like when I’m running around doing errands haha. You look adorable! I love the jacket. The color is amazing and I love the thin quilted material- not too warm and thick. Love the denim on denim with the chambray and jeans. Statement necklaces are so fun and instantly make an outfit stand out. Love yours so much!
