Blush Maxi Dress with a Faux Suede Jacket.

Take that summer maxi and give it a fall spin.

Another way to work a transitional summer-to-fall wardrobe is to take a summer maxi dress and layer it with a more fall-friendly piece. An easy one-two punch: this pretty blush maxi dress topped with a faux suede jacket. Even though the jacket is lightweight, the deep camel color and major drape factor make it very appropriate for October. The jacket balances the warm weather blush and camouflages the fact this dress has a spaghetti strap. I added blush mule sandals (sold out, but almost exact here) to blend easily with the dress and play up the movement of the skirt. Voilá! The result is one of those outfits you can wear when it’s brisk in the morning but warm by mid-day.

Wondering how else to warm up a maxi dress? If the print isn’t too terribly summery (i.e., no neons or palm prints), you can layer a thin turtleneck or a tee underneath, or wear a heavier blazer (think wool, tweed, velvet) over the top. A jacket is always an option, too, like I’m wearing here. Consider a heavier shoe after first frost, like a camel-colored ankle boot or a ballet flat.
