Acid Wash Crop Top + Suede.

I never thought I’d bring back gray acid wash.

It’s been the summer of throwback fashion, from 70s bell sleeves to 90s chokers. I am a definite convert, as evidenced by the fact I’m wearing a gray acid wash crop top in the look below. Hello 1990, it’s me. I’ve paired it with a faux suede mini skirt and a laser cut heeled sandals. What I love about this outfit? The crop top, skirt, and sunnies are all Forever 21 and total a very manageable $50. (PS- you can still buy the skirt and sunglasses.)

This is where it pays to indulge in fast fashion: for very of-the-moment pieces that maybe don’t quite have the staying power. (I love you, acid wash crop top, but will I love you next spring?) You spend a little to get a big fashion splash, and then it doesn’t matter quite as much if you only get a few late-summer wears out of the item.

Shop the look:

I think the fact the acid wash crop top is a smaller part of the outfit helps make the look not appear too retro. (Rather than being an acid wash maxi dress, for example. Yikes.) The modern sandals help update the look, too. Another way to wear this crop: with black or white denim (either full-length or shorts). Keep things on the high-waisted side if you’re not into full-midriff. If you are, rock that tummy like 1999 Britney.

  1. I love this! I can’t belive the 90s are making a comeback to this extent either! It all seems so trendy and I agree with you on how it can take so much out of our wallets on things that may not be so “in” next year. That’s what Forever 21 is for (for me at least)!

  2. You are gorgeous #1! And I completely agree with you. I spend my $$$ on those items that will last over and over and then shop my trendy, but will be over soon, items on sales or places like NordstromRack.
