Breaking out a loud plaid statement coat for the Trend Spin Link-up.

Who says your outerwear has to be basic? I like mixing in loud prints (as you’ve seen ’round here recently) to shake things up. This red and blue plaid statement coat is an old Zara fave and adds some serious punch to a look. (Looking for your own statement coat? Try here and here, and I love this floral number.) I layered it over a velvet bodysuit, raw-hemmed skinnies, and a pair of poppy red suede pumps. Not only is it bright + fun (to combat those impending winter blues), but it’s right up my alley in my alma mater’s colors. (Rock chalk!)

Ah, the power of a plaid statement coat– you can’t beat it! I love this coat for the office (really punches up basic black trousers + sweaters), and also over winter dresses with tights and boots.

  12. That is a statement coat indeed. I have yet to find the perfect plaid coat. Love yours. I need/want/must have that gorgeous black velvet bodysuit. Is it recent? Please tell me! Also, fierce and fun red-orange pumps!

    1. I was lucky to stumble across this coat at Zara a few years back- I love it!

      And yes, the bodysuit is current- I linked it in the post directly (under each photo). I think they still have a few sizes left- you should check!
