From an embellished t-shirt to over-the-top sandals.
A t-shirt, pair of cutoff shorts, and flat sandals are a standard summer outfit– but that doesn’t mean those elements have to be boring. Embellished is the new black– you can find tassels, pom poms, and fringe on just about everything, at every price point. This H&M tee is very wearable, but definitely a step up from your basic gray crew neck. A pair of classic cutoffs (on super sale right now) are an easy match, and I went for the embellishment crown with these crazy pom pom lace-up sandals from Mabu. They’re pricey, yes, but worth it for the wow factor. (You can also score tons of more affordable options via Etsy, btw.) The resulting outfit is an elevated version of that t-shirt + jean shorts summer uniform, with a few interesting twists.

You can take the laces of these pom pom lace-up sandals all the way up your calf, but I choose to keep ’em looped at the ankle. Love the idea of these stunners with a simple white summer dress (hello, Greece personified), or with a pair of super skinny jeans and a silk camisole. Plenty of outfitting options for this fun statement shoe.
Did you catch the giveaway launch on Tuesday? I’m throwing my hat in with some stellar blogger friends to offer you the chance to win some serious cash– just in time for the upcoming Anniversary Sale! Enter at the bottom of this post; good luck!
The FabFitFun Summer Box
Summer has arrived, and so has the summer FabFitFun box. FabFitFun is a subscription box that ships four times a year and is full of roughly $200+ worth of fun, full-sized products for you to fall in love with (the total value of the items below = $228). You only pay $49.95 each time a box ships. But I’ve got your back: use code ROUGE and get $10 off your subscription. Check out what’s in the summer box!
I’m always in the market for a cute + bright beach bag that can double as a weekender, so this over-sized Trina Turk canvas tote is right up my alley. I love the cute lettering and the chunky rope handles! The Summer & Rose yoga towel is huge (beach towel-esque) and super absorbent. I’ve been packing it on longer bike rides, and it’s big enough to spread out on the ground for some post-ride stretching.
The popsicle mold from Betchsicles is cheeky; I love the little champagne-shaped popsicles it makes! The FabFitFun team passed along a recipe of blended fruit (strawberries, oranges, pineapples, kiwis, and blueberries) that makes the best cold summer treat. I added a splash of rum to the mix to spice these guys up– a boozy popsicle? Yes, please. I also like the fruit-only versions propped up in a glass of rose (or white wine, or champagne, or sangria) for a sweet kick.
Beauty goodies are always welcome, and this box is packed with ’em. I was most excited to try the Osea Atmosphere Protection moisturizer. Hydration is so important! The cream is super lightweight and finishes matte (bonus in the KC humidity). I love that you can blend it with your foundation to make your own CC cream! The salt spray from FabFitFun was a fun addition to my hair arsenal. Always looking to tame this lion’s mane.
The lippie from Passport to Beauty initially looked a little darker than what I usually wear in the summer, but I was pleased to find the color was sheer at first, and then buildable. One swipe was a pretty purple tint, then I could layer on more if I chose. The Stemulation scrub has been in my shower since I opened the box because it’s great for face and body. I’ve been using it religiously to prep for spray tans.
