Gray Sweater Dress for Kansas City Homes & Style.

A cozy gray sweater dress to combat that winter chill.

The countdown to spring starts now! Not really. Don’t do it– you’ll only be disappointed because we’ve still got a solid 2 months of winter weather here in KC. The name of the game right now is staying as warm as possible without totally letting your style game slip. One way to do this is to cozy up in pieces like this gray sweater dress, which I’m sporting in the latest issue of KC Homes & Style.

The turtleneck feature and the oversized fit mean this sweater dress maxes out on the snuggly factor. (Mine is from a few seasons ago, but get the look here and here.) I grabbed a tall boot with some attitude: faux croc, cowboy-style, patent leather. They pull double duty because a boot like this acts as a buffer against the cold.

I dig the classic sweater vibe with the tougher, trendy boot. Omicron is keeping me homebound lately, but when things settle down this outfit will work for a cozy brunch with pals or out for date night. If you’re in the office, consider a sweater dress and boots as an alternative to the trousers-and-sweater combo that feels overdone by this time each winter.

Episode 2 of The Adults Aren’t Alright: Photoshop Wrecked Our Body Image.

The podcast is off and running! This week I’m diving into Photoshop culture and how it completely (and invisibly, at least at first) destroyed an entire generation’s body image. You can find the episode here or on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, or anywhere you get your podcasts.

  1. Ooh, I love this dress! When I first started exploring female fashion, I bought and tried wearing a similar one but the experience taught me how you have critical qualities I lack which the dress made plain. You look terrific in this. Heading over to the podcast now…

    1. I always find sizing up in a sweater dress works for me- the slouch is good! You can always add a jacket or push up the sleeves if you feel like you’re drowning in it and want to add some shape!

    1. Yes! The seasons give us chances to wear all sorts of different things- like I cannot imagine wearing this sweater dress in any other season except winter because it’s so warm!

    1. I think it can be tough to find a good sweater dress right now because they’re all SUPER fitted- I sized up in this dress to leave some room to lounge + breathe!

    1. Omg, -37?! That’s insane! We’ve been in the single digits here in KC this week and I thought we had it bad! Stay warm, babe!

  2. I love sweater dresses right now too!! They’re perfect combination of staying warm and stylish (haha important to stay stylish indeed for winter too!!). Love yours with the black boots! Xx

    1. I just love gray, too- I always seem to keep buying things in this color even though I have a ton of pieces in this color!

  3. Ooh, love a good sweater dress! I talk like I’ve ever HAD a good sweater dress. I have not.

One year for Christmas my (ex)husband got me a cream angora sweater and skirt set…I was like HAVE YOU EVER EVEN MET ME, let alone, there is no WAY this is going to fit/my body will look good in this/I will ever leave the house in this…and…SHOCKINGLY, it was AMAZING. It fit amazing, I looked amazing, it felt amazing, I wore that outfit every chance I got.

I hope I have a picture somewhere of that shining moment in my life.

I bring that up cuz it was the closest thing I’ve ever had a to a sweater dress and it was a dream.

Like your grey sweater dress looks on you – like a dream 🙂

    Happy New Year 🙂

    1. A cream angora sweater skirt set! Omg! I have a love/hate relationship with angora because sometimes it’s so cozy and sometimes it’s too hot. I want to see the pic of you in this set!

    1. A sweater dress really does dress up a winter look without too much effort- which is always the goal when it’s zero degrees outside, lol.

  4. A sweater dress is something I used to have in my closet and it is something I’d like to add back into it. I love this neutral gray color and the length of it against your tall boots. And, I have your Podcast on my subscribe list, I just haven’t had time to listen to any lately. I can’t wait to catch up on it.

    1. You’re so sweet for subscribing- thank you! I can’t wait to hear what you think. 🙂 And yes- a sweater dress is such a great closet staple for our Midwest winters!

  5. I love that kind of dress for winter and cold days. Thanks for sharing. I invite you to visit my last post. Have a nice day!

  6. Hello Ashley
The sweater dress in addition to comfort is a quick way to be in fashion, it’s a fashion trend that women are grateful for! Thank you for sharing your experience with vaccines on my blog! It might even be a topic for your podcast, who knows??

  7. This looks like such a cosy dress! I used to have a similar one, although it was a bit shorter. I donated it in the end, even in winter the days that call for knit dresses like this don’t happen very often here in Brisbane!

Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you are having a great weekend 🙂 Another hot one here!
