Striped Button-up Worn Off the Shoulder.

A sexy remix on the classic button-up.

A button-up is a piece we’ve been borrowing from the boys for ages, but the latest way to wear it has a definite sexy spin: take an oversized button-up and unbutton halfway, then slide it over the shoulders. I tried just that with a shirt from Zara, worn with high-waisted skinny denim and studded sandals. The black faux suede and chunky heel make these sandals feel like a good summer-to-fall choice; they aren’t your classic dainty summer shoe. A red lip for some punch and to underline the sexy vibe of this look– it also gives people something else to focus on, besides the fact I’m basically wearing my shirt half open.

I loved the unexpected factor of wearing a button-up like this but opted to add a lace bralette to boost the coverage. It not only tied in the black of my sunnies, earrings, and sandals, but it worked well against the bold stripe of the button-up.

Zara shirt (similar here and love this one-shoulder version) // Target bralette (similar here) and sandals (under $35 score!) // H&M jeans // Kendra Scott earrings // Quay sunglasses

What do you think? Would you wear a button-up like this? I need a bit more practice (and maybe another button to bring the cleavage up!) with this look, but overall I like the vibe. Great for a date night or drinks with the girls, especially with a bright red lip. Otherwise, button this bad boy up all the way and wear it everywhere (I actually wore this to work with black skinny trousers and a red suede mule just last week).

Kansas City Fashion Week kicked off on Sunday with a garden party, then continued last night down at The Monarch for a VIP media preview event. (That space is gorgeousmy Instagram stories.) If you’ve been keeping an eye on , you’ve probably seen sneak peeks of my looks. But full outfit rundowns will be here on LSR next week. I’m taking a bit of a breather for the next few nights before heading to Union Station for the Friday and Saturday night shows. Nothing like KCFW!

  1. What a fun way to experiment with a basic button-up! I think that look is a little to outside my comfort zone, but this does make me want to play with my button-ups a little!
