This is a crazy time of year in terms of choosing what to wear. Days start out crisp but quickly heat up into summer temperature territory, making it impossible to pick a single season and dress for it. While I’m all about fall colors and fabrics, I’m still not quite ready to let go of easy + breezy summer outfitting involving strappy dresses in bright colors and lots of cutoff shorts. A good meet-in-the-middle look? A romper with longer sleeves in a prime fall color (olive!) worn with fringed leather sandals.
The fabric is lightweight and the shorts are short (hi, Ashley White Standard Protocol), but the utility style and darker palette make it perfect for early fall. The shoes are sandals, indeed, but a chunky heel and loafer-fringe feel means these guys work now and with cigarette trousers and cashmere come late October.

I’ll get some use out of the romper until things really cool off, then it’ll be time to pack it away. The fringed leather sandals, however, will stay out until we get some snow on the ground. Love the idea of these guys with pencil skirts, skinny dark denim, and those aforementioned cigarette trousers.
