How does one dress for KCFW? In a Hugh Hefner satin pajama set.

I had a blast getting (fairly) girly for the KCFW garden party, but I opted for offbeat + comfy for the VIP Media Night at The Monarch with my girl Caitlin from SophistiCAITed. This took the form of a pajama-style set from ASOS that had a very distinct Hugh Hefner vibe. I mean, just look at that pinstripe! The lace trim on the cami dress hit on all the lingerie notes, and the maxi jacket was essentially a robe. What shoes to wear? I could’ve put on a pair of pumps, but I chose white Stan Smith sneakers instead because I wanted to even out the sexy factor– and also save my feet. I finished the look with some dainty gold pieces and a new Rebecca Minkoff perfect for fall.

The combination made for an interesting outfit; it was the right amount of oomph and casual. Also, I felt like I was lounging around in pj’s all night long, so major bonus there.

The pajama trend is still going strong, but that doesn’t mean you have to wear this pajama-style set together. (Nothing says you have to look like ol’ Hef.) I’m going to layer a thin black turtleneck and tall black suede boots under the dress for a cool fall look. The maxi jacket will look really nice paired with straight-leg denim and a pair of pumps, or maybe worn over a basic sweater dress.

The Monarch is such a gorgeous space. There are over 1000 3D printed butterflies over the bar, for crying out loud. I was swooning over all that white marble and the cocktails were just as beautiful as they were delicious. Caitlin and I had a blast– however, I have no idea how we escaped without taking a selfie. Slacking on our game just a bit!
