Military Maxi.

A bright, citrus chevron maxi dress gets some edge by adding a military vest. Layer on a few bangles, a statement necklace (still digging this lariat necklace from BaubleBar), and easy gladiator flats. Hello there, Friday night! Bring on the drinks (and nachos, yum) with the girls.

Love the tie straps and how the flutter bit wraps around the back. Comfy and easy to wear, with a bit fair amount of skin showing. You know, because it is summer.

Have a happy weekend!

  1. Loving the bright colors with the subdued olive green. Would never have put these pieces together but you make it work so well!

    1. Thanks, Lili! Jealous you got to shoot at a baseball stadium in your latest post- I could probably recruit Lance to take my pics if that were the perma-venue! 🙂

  2. I wish I had the sense to pair things like these together in my closet- i feel like I always wear the same outfit over and over! Any tips?

    1. Hi Mari! If you feel like you’re in a bit of a rut, take a standard piece (like a favorite dress or blouse) and grab something else from your closet that you’ve never worn with it before. So if you always wear your little white dress with nude heels, grab and pair of bright red pumps. Or if you always wear your floral blouse with a basic black blazer, grab a lightweight striped cardigan (in a similar color fam) and print mix. You can do it! Have fun!

  3. ahhh i see there is the little extra flair on the dress once you took the vest off but i totally think the vest matches the maxi dress perfectly. i am going maxi today either a skirt or dress you inspired me today

  4. I’m going to be honest here… personally I would of never thought of putting a maxi dress with such a masculine vest but the combo actually looks amazing together! It’s the perfect balance <3

I enjoyed this post and I'm now following you 🙂 Can't wait to read more in the future!

    1. We’re the Maxi Twins… Which sounds a bit like those coming-of-age movies we used to watch in 6th grade as they were prepping us for puberty, if you get my drift. We need a better name, ha!

    1. Thanks, Paola! Loved your most recent blog post- street style is such a good source of fashion inspiration. 🙂

  5. I wore something similar the other day. I love high low printed maxi dress with a white denim vest. It was chic, comfortable and cool enough for a sweltering NY summer day. I think we are on to something here.
