Fancy Tweed + Faded Denim.

Mixing something classically feminine with a more rugged piece is a fashion tale as old as time. (Maybe not quite, but you get the point.) Once you get the hang of it, matching up girly + tough can inject some interest into your outfits, and stretch your closet by allowing you to create new pairings.

For example, let’s take a metallic gray tweed jacket with bracelet sleeves and black piping– sounds quite country club/workweek chic. But it gets a bit of an edge when worn over faded black skinnies with a ripped knee + a super slinky camisole. After adding a pair of basic black suede pumps and a topknot, I had myself an outfit that could go the distance.

Make sure you come back on Thursday; I went to the salon this past weekend and changed the hair up a bit. Changing leaves, changing ombré. Plus I’ve got a few pictures to share from the wine walk. Such a fun time!

First game of the World Series tonight… Go Royals! This city is buzzing with excitement; we haven’t been here in a long time.

  1. GREAT look! I will have to check out Madewell jeans. I discovered that if jeans that too much cotton like %99 do NOT hold their shape no matter how expensive they are. Got to lycra or spandex or elastin at about at least %10 to keep the shape and these obviously do!

  2. Great combo! I totally am a huge fan of pairing opposites – definitely makes for a less predictable and interesting outfit with little effort! You look great as always. Can’t wait to see your new do!

  3. I’m so excited to see your hair! It looked so amazing on instagram- I’m sure the high-res pics are going to be even better!

  4. I love that jacket- I have a tweed dress, but it’s really old and pastel. I would love a darker tweed piece like this jacket! Thanks for suggesting places to buy!

  5. LOVE this look! The lace top mixed with the jacket and jeans is perfect!

Thanks for linking up with me at Whatcha Wearing Wednesday!
