The amazing team at Commodity reached out to see if I wanted to take their fitting kits for a spin. They have taken the convenient try-at-home trend and applied it to choosing a fragrance. I love this idea; who doesn’t appreciate a test drive? Commodity didn’t have to ask me twice– I’m a bit of a fragrance junkie. Don’t believe me? Check out this shot from my IG. I’m always on the hunt for my newest favorite.

How Commodity works: you order a fitting kit for a reasonable $9, which includes 10 scents. (Boys, you can play too; there’s a kit for men!)

You get a full 30 days to test drive the scents. This was my favorite part– being able to really give each fragrance a shot.

paper commodity fragranceRather than trying to smell all 10 scents in a single setting like I would at a fragrance counter (and searching for a bare patch on my arm to spray yet another test spritz), I could wear one scent each day, go back and re-try scents I wasn’t sure about, etc., to find the scent that worked best for me.

What comes next? You choose your favorite fragrance and place an order via the Commodity website– less the $9 you originally paid for the fitting kit. Essentially, you get $9 off the price of either a trio of 10 mL scents ($48) or a hefty 100 mL bottle ($108) if you make a purchase in the first 30 days. Brilliant, no?

So what scent was my favorite? I’m typically very into fresh + green and/or fruity scents, so Moss, Ivy, and Mimosa were hits for me– but the real winner, and my number 1 choice? Paper. So, so gorgeous. Really unique; I don’t have anything like it.

Commodity describes Paper as the “best version of you,” which is quite cool. But it’s true– the scent is very subtle + a bit warm, and just smells good. A perfect anytime fragrance, especially during the day.

  3. Ahhh, I want to win this! Such an awesome idea.
    I lost all my perfumes last month when I moved- I literally have no idea where the box went! I would love to win this to find a new favorite fragrance. 🙂

  11. I have been dying to try Commodity fragrances ever since I learned of them about a month ago. My signature scent was discontinued a few years ago, and I have been (sadly, I know) conserving each drop since then. I need to branch out! 🙂

  12. I’ve never heard of Commodity before but what a great, fun concept! I’d probably never even choose to smell a fragrance called Paper on my own but I’m definitely intrigued!

  23. Oh I really want to win! What a cool thing!
    I like that you can try it out for 30 days- a whole month! That’s plenty of time to pick a fave. Too often I’ve sprayed on a fragrance at the store, liked it, bought it, and realized that the dry down a few hours later wasn’t so good.
    This eliminates that risk! Awesome!

  28. This is super cool! I love the idea of being able to test out the fragrances over a period of time instead of feeling pressured at the counter, then getting it home only find out that the dry-down scent it a lot different than you thought. :/ Fingers crossed that I win! Hee hee.

  41. I have always wanted to be one of those girls who had a signature perfume- like someone would smell it and think, “Oh, that smells JUST like Lauren!” (In a good way, obvs.) 🙂

  43. What an interesting idea! Scents smell so different on people, it is hard to just buy one. I love the idea of “test driving” some.

    1. You can wear the scents alone, or layer them. The Trio package will be good both for those who can’t pick a clear favorite or who want to layer several on at a time. 🙂

  46. I love fragrances too, but unfortunately I can’t wear them to work because one of my coworkers is extremely allergic to scents 🙁 But I do enjoy wearing scents on the weekends!

    1. Oh no! I work with someone who is very sensitive to smells- I can’t imagine what that is like.
      And of course a little spritz on the weekend just feels like it completes the outfit, no? 🙂
