Boyfriend Shirt + Velvet Mules.

Love a basic button-down and jeans with burgundy velvet mules.

Mules are in. If you’ve been reading LSR lately, you know this. And the slipper flat has been a thing for a bit, but now the fashion gods have taken it a bit further with velvet mules. Seriously, it’s like a velvet slipper your granddad wore in the late 50’s and I’m so here for it.

I wanted to keep the rest of the look simple to demonstrate that you don’t need an over-the-top outfit to wear with a pair of equally crazy shoes. These kicks go with everything, guys. I’m wearing a Gap boyfriend button-up (so good, check it out here) and skinnies by Silver Jeans. A neck scarf and silver sunglasses round out the easy + breezy weekend look.

Okay, so what else to wear these velvet mules with? I’m thinking with tights and a polished dress for holiday parties or formal office settings, or with dark joggers and a leather jacket for a cool street look. See? These guys are versatile.

  1. I love that you kept the rest of the look simple to let those awesome shoes stand out. I’m convinced now that I need some velvet shoes in my closet, stat.

  2. Love this look! The crisp whiteness of the shirt and the blue jeans go so well with the velvet mules. I’ve just learned bout the history of mules from Italy and it’s so crazy how they are back in style, continuing over hundreds of years! I definitely agree that those mules would look awesome with joggers
