All Black: Frayed Denim + Sheer Embroidered Blouse.

Mega frayed denim with a black sheer blouse.

An all-black outfit in July? Sure, weather permitting. I, however, shot this look on a Saturday early evening when it was roughly 90º with zero breeze. (Look closely and I’m sure you can see my sweat mustache in the headshots, but it’s all good.) I just couldn’t wait for cooler weather; this pair of black frayed denim (similar here) and sheer embroidered blouse was just too good. I love the moody vibe to the look, and that mega fray is everywhere right now.  I matched ’em with my black leather mules (which are from ASOS a few seasons ago; super similar versions here and here). The blouse is super sheer, so a body con tank layered underneath boosted the coverage.

While I wouldn’t recommend wearing this at high noon or on any sort of summer patio, it would make for a perfect dinner + movie date night outfit because movie theaters and restaurants are always chilly. If you’re in the KC area, swing by KC Garment District and pick up this blouse + pair of frayed denim (which also comes in a regular wash, btw)!

What’s your ratio of destroyed to regular denim? I feel like I have more jeans with some sort of destroyed element (holes, fraying, a raw hem, etc.) than I do non-destroyed regular jeans. I’m also not mad about it; I love the cool ways designers are re-imagining denim and finding ways to add interesting features. It’s also become more and more acceptable to wear destructed denim in a variety of venues, which makes me feel even better about the fact more than half of my jeans are busted up.

  2. Love the embroidery on your top! 🙂 While I wouldn’t be game to try all black and layering in summer, you do wear it well! 🙂

I don’t have any distressed jeans – only because I cut my collection back a while ago to jeans I could wear in the office on casual Friday – and rips aren’t allowed!

Hope you are having an awesome weekend!

  5. I’m definitely leaning towards more busted up denim than not as well, much to my grandads confusion! I went to visit the other day in some ripped jeans and he completely didn’t understand it haha. I love this look and the frayed detail on the jeans 🙂 x

  6. Black is a bold choice in hot summer weather but you’re right that it would make an excellent date night look! I adore that sheer top!!

  8. This heat has been unreal! But I don’t blame you for wanting to wear this anyway–I love the gorgeous embroidery on that top and I love the frayed hem of those jeans.

  9. Sweat and all you still look stunning! Loving your top!!
Most of my jeans are distressed, even though I always try to get a clean cut pair, I always go for the distressed type!
